13 Sins

13 Sins (2014)

Stars: Mark Webber as Elliot, Devon Graye as Michael (Elliot’s autisitic brother), Tom Bower, the father and Rutina Wesley Elliot’s fiancé.

I didn’t really know what to think about this movie.IMDB raiting is 6.2 ( we always look at this to determine if we will like the movie or not. Sometimes we get surprised!) The synopsis is as follows per IMDB. “A cryptic phone call sets off a dangerous game of risk for Elliot, a down-on-his luck salesman. The game promises increasing rewards for completing 13 tasks each more sinister than the last. “

Since this was a direct to VOD movie, I was a little leery at first. I always like to give a movie a shot no matter how it was released. Sometimes the VOD movies are better than the blockbusters that are released in the theater. It starts off with an older gentleman being honored at a dinner banquet. When he gets up to the podium he starts telling jokes, then a dirty limerick. That was little funny because the look on everyone’s face was priceless. When (I think it was his wife) comes to being him off stage he grabs her hand and cuts off a finger. Holy cow! What a start. We learn that he was a participant in the game. What game? I don’t know. I am not going to give too much away because I despise spoilers. I can say that the first few task are silly and easy to do. Than after the first few then it gets good.

This turned out be a very good. The actors were great, especially Devon Graye who played Elliots autistic brother. Tru Blood fans will enjoy seeing Rutina Wesley in something where she isn’t a vampire. Ron Pearlman has a small roll but now a days what isn’t that man in.  There was not anything that was hard to watch but the gore was effective. With a great story and great cast this is a very entertaining movie.
I would recommend this to those who enjoy a good thriller and also those horror fans because of the great horror elements.  As my rating system I will base it on 10 stars, giving this an 8 out of 10

8/10
