ABCs of Death 2

ABCs of Death 2 is a 2014 film. If you know of the first movie, then you know that this is a very unique film. Comprised of 26 shorts directed by 26 up and coming new directors. My review is going to be a little different for this one, as I am going to mini review each segment. Here we go....(I wont be posting much spoilage because I thing you should watch this one!)

A is for Amateur (directed my Evan Katz) is about a hitman's hit not going exactly as planned. Katz is a relative new director, just having a few movie under his belt. I liked this one. First showing the meticulously planned hit he planned, then showing what really happened. What could have gone wrong did and just shows that a hitman's job is not for everyone.

B is for Badger (directed by Julian Barratt) shows a wildlife documentary going awry when the team encounters a giant mutant badger. Barratt is better knows for his acting chop in England. He does play the host of the documentary and is a prick, so your glad when he gets whats coming. The descrption basically says what happened. This one was alright. Dont get to see much tho, but thats ok.

C is for Capital Punishment (directed by Julian Gilbey) is where a man is excuted for a crime he did not commit. Gilbey will be known for directing A Lonely Place to Die (2011). This short was stressful. A man bullied to confess to a murder by an angry mob who sentences him to death. That all I'm going to say about that one. One of my favorites.

D is for Deloused (directed by Robert Morgan) is a stop-motion animated short about a large bug that helps an executed man get revenge on his killers. Morgan is a London filmmaker who has several animated shorts under his belt. I will say that this one is strange. The people give me the creeps and the whole story is just odd. The giant bug is strange and just what happens is unique. I was glad when it was over.

E is for Equilbrium (directed by Alejandro Brugues) shows two castaways that have their friendship tested when a beautiful woman is washed ashore. Alejandro is best known for directing the 2011 hit Juan of the Dead. This chapter is quite fun to watch. The jealously that comes between these two guys is shown great. A nice twist towards the end makes this one great.

F is for Falling (directed by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado) has an Israeli woman is caught in a tree by her papachute and is found by a hostile Palestinian boy. These two directors are best known for the great and masterful 2013 Israli film Big Bad Wolves. All I can say about this one is accidents happen.

G is for Grandad (directed by Jim Hosking) shows a young man discovering that his grandfather has been sleeping under his bed. Hosking is a relative new director and I have to admit that he does a fantastic job with this one. Between the creep factor and hilarity, it just works.

H is for Head Games (directed by Bill Plympton) is a animated one with a man and woman kiss, which turns into a surreal power struggle. I didn't care too much for this one. Lets move on.

I is for Invincible (directed by Erik Matti). A family tries to kill the matriarch for her inheritance. I had a good time with this one. The true ridiculousness of the actors and story is great. The ways that the family tries to kill their mother is a good showing of what a family would be driving to where money was involved.

J is for Jesus (directed by Dennison Ramalho) shows a young man being violently martyred for being a homosexual. This one is very good I feel. The thought of homosexuals being possessed is hilarious, but also scary because I'm sure there are people out there that actually think that. The set up is good but what I really liked was the payoff. It was done very well and was very satisfying.

K is for Knell (directed by Kristina Byozyte and Brumo Samper). A women experiences the effects of a black liquid that turns people into killers. This one was great. Little to no dialogue. Everything was acted out by what we see or the woman's reaction. It was very creepy and suspenseful for only being a few minutes in length.

L is for Legacy (directed by Lancelot Imasuen) shows a ritual sacrifice goes wrong. Didn't care too much for this one. Kind of just fell flat to me. The creature was just out of place.

M is for Masticate (directed by Robert Boocheck). A man runs fown a street in slow motion, Attempts to eat someone and is shot by a cop. Thats all I'm going to say about this one. I loved this one. Probably one of my favorites in the series. The end is awesome and is so relavent.

N is for Nexus (directed by Larry Fessenden) shows a man hurrying to meet his girlfriend on Halloween. There is always a few that are hard to watch. That is the case here. You kinda pick up on where it is headed but you can't do anything to stop it.

O is for Ochlocracy(mob rule) (directed by Hajime Ohata). A woman is sentenced to death by a courtroom full of zombies. This one was great. The absurdness of the story make it. I love that the zombies put humans on trial for attempted murder. Just great.

P is for P-P-P-P SCARY! (directed by Todd Rohal) is an homage to black and white comedy in which three prisoners encounter a strange man and a baby. This one is just odd. Not a fan. Was just glad when it was over.

Q is for Questionnaire (directed by Rodney Ascher). A man takes an intelligence test on the street and meets an unfortunate end. Strange endings are a staple for these movies. This on is no expectation.

R is for Roulette (directed by Marven Kren) shows two men and a woman play Russian roulette while hidden in a basement. The suspence was great in this one. Not knowing why they were playing the game until the very end was a great ending.

S is for Slpit (directed ju Juan Martinez Moreno) is where a woman is attacked in her home while on the phone with her husband. I absolute loved this one. Between the anxiety of listening to you wife being attacked and not being able to do anyting about it, and it being all your fault. Just a great short.

T is for Torture Porn (Jen and Sylvia Soska). A woman is treated misogynistic-ally at an audition, but when asked to strip shows she has tentacle where her vagina should be. I love the Soska Sisters. From Hobo with a Shotgun to American Mary, they do great films. This is no different. What these men get is well deserved.

U is for Utopia (directed by Vincenzo Natali) shows an unattractive man is singled out in a mal full of seemingly perfect people. This one shows similarities with Logans Run, The Giver and others as the perfect society story. The only difference is how it is handled. Great!

V is for Vacation (directed by Jerome Sable) is where two men are killed by a prostitute they hired while on the phone with the one guys girlfriend. This one was very unexpected. I did not see the violence being so brutal. But that is what made this a good one.

W is for Wish (directed by Steven Kostanski). Two kids wish themselves into a fantasy world. I liked this one. It shows you the atrocities committed by the bad guys in your fantasy stories.

X is for Xylophone (directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo). A babysitter is emotionally affected by a child's xylophone playing. Again this one is hard to watch. But the pure horribleness of what is done makes it seem longer than it accually is.

Z is for Zygote (directed by Chris Nash). A pregant woman has been staying off birth for 13 years. This one is ridiculous. But I loved it. Seeing a woman with a 13 year old child still inside her is something. But what happens after that is what makes this one a great ending to a great film.

Thank you for staying this long. All in all, I liked this movie. It defiantly was better than part 1. I would recommend watching this only if you have seen the 1st one and knowing what your getting yourself into.

7.5/10
IMDB 5.9/10
